DIGITAL PRINTING
Digital Print was created for instant printing in 4 color process for very small runs and with Variable Data. Variable Data is when we change every single sheet with different information
This process is all computer / technology driven - so we can change information on each sheet as it is produced (e.g.: name and address changing on individual sheets).
With its incredible flexibility, Digital printing does have a few downsides:
A. It is Limited to 4 color process – only. NO PMS colors.
B. It has restricted Machine Print areas:
- Most are limited to 13 x 18 sheets size
- We have the latest size of 26 x 14, for Trifold brochures, as well as the standard size.
- Maximum Thickness of stock is .018 mil thickness.
The great thing about Digital is that we can run as little as one brochure or booklet and even larger quantities for immediate delivery (such as Trade Show Brochures and overnight Booklets).
OFFSET PRESS PRINTING
Offset printing (traditional printing) technology uses plates, which are often made from metal or aluminum, and is setup to transfer ink to paper with a rubber blanket. It roles the ink images onto sheets of paper. Professionals call the process offset because ink is "offset" and transferred directly onto the paper.
Where Digital Printing is toner based - offset is Inked Based Printing.
Offset printing is often the choice when larger quantities print runs are needed or there is the requirement for PMS colors. It is also more cost effective than Digital in larger runs.
